Our famous smoked bone-in ham makes a terrific centrepiece for your dinner gatherings. This flavourful ham bakes to perfection and tastes delicious.
Virginia-style ham is prepared with the skin on and is boneless and fully cooked. The addition of the skin and fat guarantees a moist and flavourful ham.
FOR VIRGINIA AND BONE-IN HAMS Preheat oven to 350F. Score outside skin into diamond shapes for presentation and to allow for the flow of natural juices. Bake covered with foil in water or ginger ale for approximately 30 - 40 minutes per kilogram (internal temperature of 150F). Remove foil during the last 20 minutes to brown the outside.
FOR VIRGINIA AND BONE-IN HAMS Preheat oven to 350F. Peel the skin from the ham and trim the fat to a 1/4 inch layer. Score the fat in a diamond pattern. Insert a whole clove in each intersection of the diamonds. Bake uncovered until lightly brown using water or ginger ale. Cover with foil and continue baking 30 - 40 minutes per kilogram (internal temperature of 150F). During the last 15 minutes remove foil and glaze with your favourite ham glaze.
Blackforest-style hams are bonesless, fully cooked, and can be served warm or cold. Blackforest-style hams are lean and carve with ease.
FOR BLACKFOREST-STYLE HAM Preheat oven to 325F. Place ham in a covered baking dish using water or ginger ale. Bake for 30 - 40 minutes per kilogram, or an internal temperature of 150F. For glazing, uncover ham during the last 15 minutes of cooking. Baste ham and bake 15 minutes until glaze is set.
