Red Cabbage

Winter Spiced


1 cup Granny Smith apples, sliced thin
1/3 cup Kuehne Apple Cider Vinegar
5 cups red cabbage, shredded
2 tbsp butter
1/4 cup white sugar
3 tbsp water
2-1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp allspice
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper

Place butter into a Dutch oven or large pot. Cook cabbage for 5 minutes. Add the apple and sugar; mix well. Pour in the vinegar and water, and season with salt, pepper, clove and allspice. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to low, cover and simmer until the cabbage is tender stirring occasionally, 1-1/2 to 2 hours.
